Our Mission
Disinflow helps you navigate the complex information landscape by providing instant, evidence-based fact-checking powered by artificial intelligence. We believe everyone deserves access to reliable information and the tools to verify claims independently.
How It Works
1. Submit a Claim
Enter any claim, news headline, or statement you want to verify. It can be a simple fact, a complex assertion, or even a viral social media post.
2. AI Research
Our AI system searches for and analyzes relevant information using advanced language models. The process typically takes 10-15 seconds.
3. Source Verification
The AI evaluates sources based on strict criteria:
- Primary Sources: Original, uninterpreted information (legal documents, raw data, peer-reviewed research, direct interviews, official transcripts)
- Independent Sources: Not affiliated with or funded by parties involved in the claim
- Exclusions: Media summaries, secondary analyses, press releases, think tank reports
4. Credibility Scoring
Each claim receives a score from 0-100 based on:
- Quality and quantity of primary evidence
- Independence of sources
- Consistency across multiple sources
- Presence of contradictory evidence
Scoring Guide:
• 80-100: Likely True (strong primary evidence)
• 60-79: Mostly True (good evidence with minor gaps)
• 40-59: Mixed/Unclear (conflicting or insufficient evidence)
• 20-39: Mostly False (contradicted by evidence)
• 0-19: Likely False (strong evidence against claim)
5. Transparent Results
You receive:
- Credibility score with clear label
- Detailed analysis of findings
- Direct citations to primary sources
- Verdict (True/Mostly True/Mixed/Mostly False/False)
Important Limitations
AI Is Not Perfect
While our AI system is powerful, it has important limitations you should understand:
🤖 AI Limitations:
• Can make mistakes or misinterpret nuanced claims
• May miss recent developments (knowledge cutoff)
• Cannot verify claims requiring specialized expertise
• May struggle with highly technical or domain-specific topics
• Can be influenced by how claims are phrased
Not a Replacement for Critical Thinking
Disinflow is a tool to assist your own fact-checking, not replace it. Always:
- Review the cited sources yourself
- Consider context and nuance
- Cross-reference with other fact-checking organizations
- Apply critical thinking to AI-generated analysis
- Consult experts for specialized topics
Source Quality Matters
While we prioritize primary sources, availability varies:
- Some claims have abundant primary evidence
- Others may rely on secondary sources by necessity
- Lack of evidence doesn't always mean a claim is false
- Emerging events may have limited verifiable sources
